Any rider can enter the Mountain Of Hell, even kids!

With that being said, the race is long and can be technical in sections. It’s advised riders are at a strong intermediate skill level to take on the Mountain Of Hell.

It is possible to enjoy the race at your own pace and navigate the descent slowly whilst taking in the trail. Not everyone in this race is a pro rider.

The Mountain of hell is located in Les Deux Alpes in France. A large ski area in the winter situated next door to Alpe d’ Huez where the Megavalanche is raced.

The race starts on snow at the glacier and drops around 2,400 metres of vertical descent over roughly 25 km.

It’s a long, fast freeride enduro race across mixed terrain, including snow, rock, and single track and bike park trails! ,

What separates Mountain of Hell from other MTB races is the single mass start. Approximately 1,100 riders start at the same time from the glacier.

The Megavalanche is a very similar event, but riders start in blocks of around 350. Mountain of Hell is possibly regarded as the largest mass start MTB race in the world.
