Great time spent in Alpe d'Huez with Jamie and his team - As a single traveller to the Megavalanche - I was welcomed, late afternoon on Tuesday after a long drive, with a beer in the bar opposite our accommodation - much needed thanks guys! Excellent intro and a group outing down the main race course on day two calmed my nerves and made the rest of the week more enjoyable as a result (fears conquered!) Top that off with a free beer and discount at Smithys Bar, BBQ and beers evening and a great meal out with the wider group of MTB Trail Hub racers at the event - really made for a great atmosphere, plenty of comradery and an excellent week of riding in the Alpes! Thanks Jamie and team! Hope all goes well next year being the event recommended accommodation provider!!

Just back from a fantastic trip to the Alps with the MTB Trail Hub team. They looked after us so well, with great accommodation, great food, and so many great trails to ride. The guys were very happy to adapt the trip to the needs of the group, and took us to some amazing bike parks with barely any queues for the uplifts, allowing us to maximise our riding time. Each location offered something different, and our riding progressed massively as the week went on. The whole trip was incredible fun and exceptional value for money. Highly recommended.

Great place to stay while enjoying mountain biking in Alpe d'Huez! We all had a great time while staying with MTB Trail hub. The staff was very nice and welcoming, we were well look after during our Megavalanche week. The chalet we stayed at was well organised with various spaces were to chill, eat, hang out and get your bike sorted. Will definitely chose them again for our future trips to Alpe d’Huez. Thank you very much and see you next time!

Had an amazing time with Megavalanche and staying with MTB Trail Hub. Can’t recommend enough! Made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much to trouble if we needed anything. The Chalet we stayed in was great! Prime location and not far from the lifts. Kitted out with bike stands and tools and good bike storage. Can’t forget the hot tub and an incredible view! BBQ & social nights were great fun! Definitely booking again! 5 star! Great package put on from a great team!

Meet The Guides

Gordy and Jack are local riders to Innerleithen & Both British Cycling Level 3 Mtb Leaders.

Gordon Smith

Gordon Smith

Head Tweed Valley Guide

Gordy leads the way across our Tweed Valley holidays.
With an untold amount of time spent in the saddle around the area it’s fair to say he is the man for the job!

Fun fact - Gordy once did an ‘Everest day’ in Morzine on board an old Kona with handle bars likely cut to 620mm!

Jack Cameron

Jack Cameron

Tweed Valley Guide/ Skills Coach

Jack won’t be beaten on a climb and he’s pretty rapid coming down the trails too! Rumour has it he carries an anvil in his bag just to make the climbs even harder!

Fun Fact - Jack once tried to take down a tree with his pedal. No surprises but he came out second best!

“There is so much amazing riding to be had in this area, If you don’t mind earning your turns then you will pick up the rewards!”

”Look in any direction and there’s big hills with amazing trails on them! Last summer I had a 5 1/2 minute flat out descent”

This has now added an array of flow trails to go with a great network of off piste trails, several of which were part of the 2014 EWS series.

The Itinery

EMTB Battery Burner Group

The Tweed Valley lends its self well to Ebiking, With the sheer amount of trails in the valley along with the length of the climbs it just makes sense. Spend less time climbing and more time riding the good stuff! With that being said if you join us for the bike trip you will need to manage your own battery levels. This trip is very much and Eco climb to the summit kind of trip.

Expect to ride 25-30 miles with one battery. Our lodge is close to the trails which will enable guests to recharge during lunch on certain days.

MTB Pedal Powered Group

This is a separate trip for riders who love to earn their turns. Expect some 20 -30 mile days with up to 5000 ft of climbing. You will need a good level of fitness for this trip but it’s worth noting you don’t need to be an athlete.

We slowly winch our way to the top of the climbs and save energy for the best bit, The DESCENT!

Day 3 of the trip comes with some options. Go paddle boarding or swimming at the loch, Continue riding or get some skills coaching from our skill coach.

Info for battery burner group

You can expect two guides per trip with a group no bigger than 10. Depending on the ability of riders we may split into intermediate and advanced groups. This will enable riders to take trails they feel computable on at a speed they feel happy.

Info for 4 peak Explorer group

Expect no more than a maximum of 6 guests and 1 guide for our explorer group. We will take in the sights and explore enduro trails far and wide!
